Pronunciation

edit

Noun

edit

國軍

  1. national army

Proper noun

edit

國軍

  1. (historical) Short for 國民革命国民革命 (“National Revolutionary Army”).
  2. (Taiwan, military, used by the Kuomintang) Republic of China Armed Forces

Usage notes

edit

This term is primarily used by the Kuomintang and its supporters in Taiwan. The CPC in mainland China, as well as the DPP in Taiwan use 臺軍 / 台军 (Táijūn) instead, but for different reasons; the CPC does not recognise the legitimacy of the Republic of China, while the DPP use 臺軍 / 台军 (Táijūn) to indicate that it is referring to the Taiwanese and not Chinese military.
