Etymology
edit薩摩耶 / 萨摩耶 (sàmóyē, “Samoyed”) + 犬 (quǎn, “canis, dog”). The former part is from English Samoyed, from Russian самое́д (samojéd), probably from Sami *saam-edne (“land of the people”).
