- 前有摯獸,則載貔貅。 [Classical Chinese, trad.]
- From: The Book of Rites, c. 4th – 2nd century BCE, translated based on James Legge's version
- Qián yǒu zhìshòu, zé zǎi píxiū. [Pinyin]
- When there is a ferocious beast (of prey) in front, the flag with a pixiu / leopard('s skin) on it should be displayed.
