Etymology
editPulleyblank (1962) proposes a Yeniseian origin; he compares it to Ket [script needed] (kus), Kott [Term?] (huś), Pumpokol [Term?] (kut) ~ kus, all descending from Proto-Yeniseian *kuʔs (“horse”).
Schuessler (2007) notes similarity to Tocharian B yakwe (“horse”).
