From Middle Korean 스싀〮로〮 (susúy-lwó, by oneself), from Old Korean 自衣以 (SUSuy-lwo), from 自衣 (SUSuy, oneself) + (-lwo, by, instrumental marker). The independent noun survived into fifteenth-century Middle Korean but is now lost.
