Deus o pague
Galician
editEtymology
editLiterally, “God pay it!”.
Pronunciation
editInterjection
edit- thank God (used to express gratitude or relief.)
- Synonym: grazas a Deus
Usage notes
editCurrently, Spanish Dios has replaced Galician Deus (“God”) in vulgar speech, but not in written or formal speech. Also, because of historical sandhi, -s + article o is actually frequently pronounced as -lo.
