1. A major river in China, about midway between the Yellow River and Yangtze.

     In 1887, E. H. Parker,¹ writing upon this subject, reported the cost for the southern Huai region as having been formerly Tls. 4000 each, i.e. $2600, but as reduced to Tls. 3600 or $2,340.
