Reconstruction:Proto-Brythonic/-ox
Proto-Brythonic
editEtymology
editFrom Proto-Celtic *-yūs, accusative *-(y)osam, with secondary restoration of the -h- < -s- by analogy with the superlative and equative. The stress before -h- probably allowed the subsequent development to -x- before a vowel.
