Reconstruction:Proto-Finnic/-isa
Proto-Finnic
editEtymology
editFrom Proto-Uralic *-ńśa (*-ŋśa). Compared with *-icë-, but the relationship must be old, as any recent relationship would require a reconstruction **-ica not supported by evidence in South Estonian (which suggests an original *-s- or a later secondary change). Compare however *-icca.
Suffix
edit*-isa / *-isä
- Forms adjectives, mostly indicating possession or abundance.
