Proto-Finnic

edit

Etymology

edit

From the causative suffix *-ttadak. The suffix with a short *t instead of geminate *tt is later analogy from the first infinitive ending (*-dak, *-t'ak) on which the passive ending *-hen was directly affixed,[1] and also in part from regular simplification of consonant clusters.

Infix

edit

*-tta-

  1. Passive marker.
