Baltic cognates include Lithuanian dialectal straumuo, sriaumė, Latvian stràume.
Indo-European cognates include Ancient Greek ῥεῦμα (rheûma), Thracian Στρυμών (Strymón), Old Irish srúaim, Proto-Germanic *straumaz (“stream, current, river”).
Related to Sanskrit स्रवति (sravati), Ancient Greek ῥέω (rhéō, “I flow, stream”), and Lithuanian sravė́ti.
