Reconstruction talk:Proto-Indo-European/yeh₂-

Could this root be a derivation (i.e. a possible extension) from *h₁ey-? The meanings seem very similar, and it wouldn't be a stretch to assume *h₁ey -> *h₁y-eh₂, with some kind aktionsart-type nuance being added; the addition of an initial *h₁ to this root would still make sense considering its descendants. - Anything is possible in theory, but there isn't any solid evidence. So no. —CodeCat 15:01, 1 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Dghmonwiskos: It's hard to tell, because *h₁y-eh₂- falls under the effect of Pinault's law, so effectively it becomes *yeh₂- anyway. 5.150.99.73 17:35, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Sl. *ěti
editProto-Slavic *ěti, *ěxati are dʰe-present. The present stem of Old Church Slavonic ꙗхати (jaxati) is jad- (-ǫ, -eši, -etъ, etc) (see note 3 in LIV and compare also Lithuanian jódyti (“to spur”), 1p. pres. -dau). It's not athematic root present, as currently given. 5.150.99.73 17:17, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
