This source claims that, unlike every other month, Aprilis was only used as a substantive in Roman dating (i.e., only appeared in the genitive) and never as an adjective (i.e., in the accusative, modifying kalendas, nonas, or idus). I'm sure I've seen Apriles in a date but it might have just been some New Latin source. Is Mair right w/r/t classical Latin? If so, we should add a usage note here and probably also in the usage note on diem dealing with its treatment in Roman dating. — LlywelynII 10:20, 11 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@LlywelynII: This seems to be incorrect, and there's a statement to this effect in the footnote here: https://books.google.com/books?id=Nrk-AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA269 I added quotations, although I'm not entirely sure whether editors ever expand abbreviations such as "April."--Urszag (talk) 21:06, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
