According to Stephen Fry (QI Series A, episode 7), the word actually means "horse". Should anyone be able to verify this, I suggest it be added to the etymology section.

Question

What happened to the translation subpage of this page? I think we should have consensus as to how many translations are required for a translation subpage to be needed. This has heaps because of all the Indigenous languages since kangaroos are found everywhere in Australia.
