Any opinions on progress to date or recommendations would be welcome. The goals are modernizing the language, consolidating or eliminating older senses (We can retain a link to the original Webster's 1913 text.), as well as general improvement. DCDuring TALK 21:01, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Etymology of leader
editThought there should be a note of the obvious link in origin to the word for 'people.' That is the Old English word "lēode." PametUGlavu (talk) 01:58, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
- Leader is from the verb lead, from Proto-Indo-European *lAudh- (“to lead”). The word leode is from Proto-Indo-European *leudh- (“to grow upward”). The two do not have the same origin and are not related. —Stephen (Talk) 06:09, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

- I have started working on this in hopes of updating it enough to remove both the rfc and the webster's warning tag. I would appreciate any advice or thoughts or evaluation here or on Talk:leader. DCDuring TALK 20:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
