Middle English mess

edit

The Middle English section seems to be a mess of words with completely different meanings and origins. Someone knowledgeable should address it soon. Wakuran 09:59, 13 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

The right way to do it would be ready to put in the entries for which this is the alternative spelling and fill this one with {{form of|alternative spelling of|XXX|lang=Middle English}}. I don't have Middle English sources. DCDuring TALK 00:46, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Whether the spelling is alternative or standard, words with completely different meanings and etymological origins shouldn't be lumped together just because they share a spelling. Wakuran 15:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't disagree. I'm just not up to the job. We're short of Middle English folks right now. If you would like to take a stab it, we'd appreciate it and would help with any formatting. If you wanted to split the Middle English section up by Etymology, you would follow the pattern of any multi-etymology entry. If the specific etymology is not available to you,

===Etymology 1===

{{rfe|lang=Middle English}}

would get some attention. DCDuring TALK 03:05, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I could at least compare with the modern descendants. I'll try to find some time this month. Wakuran 13:41, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

West Frisian. I only find references to this as Old Frisian with only derived terms being attested in West Frisian, though it may have existed into early modern West Frisian. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 10:55, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
