which definition is the synonym of neat? the second? Mallerd 19:32, 11 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

I assume you mean neat in the sense of a neat bourbon or neat scotch. In that case, neat means without ice, room temperature, and without any sort of mixer (such as water or cola), unadulterated, hence pure (second definition). Of course, it’s not a perfect synonym, because nobody would order a "pure bourbon" or "pure scotch"...neat is the only word that works here. —Stephen 03:50, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yep, meant that. Thank you, in Dutch it's perfectly normal to order a "whiskey puur" or anything of that sort. That's why I also looked here. Mallerd 19:48, 13 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Italian adverb

even though is a conjunction, not an adverb. Eroica 15:49, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Adverb

Chambers 1908 defines it as "(obsolete) entirely". We have a sense that is similar, but not obsolete, and marked as UK regional. Equinox 18:40, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

I would question the Scouse label. More Scottish, I think, in that cite. The OED (Third Edition Sept. 2007) has " Absolutely, entirely, thoroughly; very; just, really, truly. Now regional (chiefly U.S. and Scottish)." with fourteen cites as an adverb, including a different one from Irvine Welsh. Dbfirs 19:08, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Italian conjunction

edit

The current entry has:

"Conjunction

pure

   even though, even if, although
   nevertheless"

As far as I know, English "nevertheless" is not a conjunction, and if that is true, it cannot be a translation for conjunction "pure".Redav (talk) 00:15, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
