adverse yaw (uncountable)

  1. (aviation) The phenomenon whereby rolling an aircraft to start a turn in one direction increases the drag on the upgoing wing on the outside of the turn, creating a tendency (especially at low airspeed and high angle of attack) for the aircraft to yaw out of the turn, and, instead, begin to turn in the direction opposite that desired.
