Etymology

edit

An adverb formed on the basis of Proto-Indo-European *h₂olyos,[1] from Proto-Indo-European *h₂el-[2] (intriguingly, however, this word is not discussed by Derksen).[3] For the suffix, compare visái (entirely). Related to Proto-Celtic *olyos (all) and, with a different suffix, Proto-Germanic *allaz (all).[4]
