- El río venía crecido, y envolvió en su turbia corriente a la hija maldita, arrastrándola hacia el mar; y cuanndo la madre, horas después, fué a buscarla, presa de angustiosa desesperación, unos changos (pescadores) que tenían sus chozas en el mismo lecho del río, le dijeron que habían visto pasar.
