end-effector (plural end-effectors)

  1. Any attachment on the end of a robot that interacts with the environment, such as a device to lift parts.
    "The system integrates a single camera into the robot's end-effector, and adds a specialized, durable lighting unit that moves with the robot to illuminate the parts." — "Eyes on the Line," Mechanical Engineering, August 2005.
  2. The terminal moving part of a limb that interacts with the environment.[1]
