envoyer
French
editEtymology
editInherited from Old French enveier, from Late Latin inviāre, from Latin via (“road, path”). Compare Spanish, Portuguese, Occitan, and Catalan enviar, Italian inviare. The irregularity on future and conditional stem were influenced by that of voir.
