From Dutch gonorroe, from Latin gonorrhoea (perhaps via German Gonorrhoe, Gonorrhö), from Ancient Greek γονόῥροια (gonórhroia), from γόνος (gónos, sperm) + ῥέω (rhéō, flow), due the mucus having been mistaken for semen.
