editLikely from Oghur, from Proto-Turkic *koŋur; compare Chuvash хӑмӑр (hămăr). Alternatively, from an otherwise unattested stem of unknown origin + -r (nominal-forming suffix). It is also possible that it is a back-formation from komorodik or komorul.[1]
