From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *lak. Cognate with Burmese လက် (lak, hand, arm), Tibetan ལག (lag, hand, arm), Old Chinese (OC *lɯɡ, “wing”), Tangut 𗁅 (*lạ¹, hand), Horpa ɮa and Nuosu (lot, hand). Compare with Lhao Vo lo, , Zaiwa loq, and Longchuan Achang lɔʔ⁵⁵.
