From Proto-Aslian *ləmooɲ (tooth), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *luuɲ (gums) via *lmuuɲ. Compare Khmer ធ្មេញ (thmɨñ), Mang muːn¹, Bolyu mən³¹, Proto-Khasic *lmǝɲ ("tooth") whence Pnar lymmeiñ and War-Jaintia lǝmin.
