  2. (intransitive) to be able to stand (long enough for some purpose, despite internal or external difficulties)
  3. (transitive, rare) to withstand, to endure (e.g. a test, a battle or an attack)

    megállja a helyétto do well, to cope (literally, “to stand his/her place”)
  4. (transitive, chiefly in the negative, often with tud (can)) to be able to help doing (something), to be able to stop oneself doing (something)
