editFrom Proto-Albanian *rāšja, from *rōs-i̯e/o, denominative of Proto-Indo-European *h₁rṓs (compare Old English rǣs (“running, race”), Latin rorarii (“skirmishers”), Ancient Greek ἐρωή (erōḗ, “quick motion, rush”)). Alternatively, a secondary formation from rashë (“fell, struck”).
