1. Any of a number of plants of Pyrola
   1. A perennial ericaceous herb (Pyrola elliptica) with a cluster of radical leaves and a raceme of greenish-white flowers.

      Synonyms: shinleaf pyrola, waxflower shinleaf, elliptic shineleaf

   2. A species of Pyrola (Pyrola americana) similar to pyrola elliptica but found in North America.

      Synonym: American shinleaf

   3. A species of Pyrola (Pyrola chlorantha) with greenish flowers that prefers moist, shaded woodland areas.

      Synonyms: green shinleaf, green pyrola

   4. A species of Pyrola (Pyrola asarifolia) noted for its distinctive leaves which are heart-shaped or ovate and have a thick leathery texture.
