thread-paper (plural thread-papers)

  1. A piece of thin soft paper for wrapping up a skein of thread.

      [H]e takes the opportunity of sauntering up to my dressing-room, where he plays with the children, picks up my thread-paper, insists upon bringing me new music, and on reading to me some novel or poem, with which he is generally furnished.
