From Old Galician-Portuguese judeu, judio, from Latin iudaeus (“Judaean”), from Ancient Greek Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos), from Hebrew יהודי (Yehudi). Cognate with Portuguese judeu and Spanish judío.
