Early life
editHoffman was born in 2003.[1] He is the son of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman and costume designer Mimi O'Donnell.[2] Hoffman has two sisters as well.[3] Hoffman's father died when he was ten years old. In his will, he wished for his son to live life outside of Hollywood.[4] Growing up, Hoffman did not seriously consider becoming an actor. He only took part in school plays as part of the stage crew, and participated in making short films with his friends, including family friend Paul Thomas Anderson and his son.[5][6][7]
Career
editHoffman made his film debut in Licorice Pizza (2021),[8] written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, a frequent collaborator of his late father.[9][10][11] For his performance, he gained critical acclaim and was nominated for, among other awards, the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.[12] In 2023, he acted in the Flannery O'Connor biopic Wildcat, directed by Ethan Hawke. The film premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival.[13] In 2024, Hoffman played Dick Ebersol in the biographical comedy-drama Saturday Night.[14]
