Kevin Onur Dural (born December 19, 1998) is an American politician, businessman, and former political candidate. In 2024, he was a Republican candidate for U.S. House District 18 in Texas, focusing on economic challenges, reducing government involvement, and promoting public-private partnerships.[1] He is a partner at Blue Group International, where he contributes to infrastructure development projects, including railroads and recycling facilities, through consortiums and public-private partnerships.[2]

Early life and education

Dural was born to Turkish immigrant parents in inner-city Chicago and was raised in a single-bedroom apartment.[1] He attended the John Cooper School before earning a B.S.A. in Biology with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. During his time at UT Austin, Dural was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, a historically Jewish fraternity, which influenced his commitment to fostering interfaith dialogue and supporting the Jewish community. He later completed an M.B.A. at Texas Tech University.[1]

Business and policy career

Dural has held various roles in public engagement and policy advocacy. He worked at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, contributing to policy research and development.[3] As a journalist, he was a newswriter for The Daily Texan and served as managing editor for Cavs Nation, overseeing editorial operations and driving audience growth.[4][5] At Blue Group International, Dural has played a pivotal role in securing and managing infrastructure projects through public-private partnerships and consortiums.[6]

In 2024, Dural announced his candidacy for U.S. House District 18, aiming to represent the district's diverse communities. During his 2024 campaign, Kevin Dural garnered significant voter support, achieving more than half the number of votes required to swing the district if he had been the sole Republican candidate. Personal life

Dural's parents, Ali Tarkan Dural and Ayse Dural, are physicians practicing in The Woodlands, Texas. Raised in a multicultural and interfaith environment, Dural attended Christian churches, including Lakewood Church under Pastor Joel Osteen, and has frequently engaged with synagogues in Texas. He has been recognized for his contributions to fostering interfaith dialogue and cultural understanding. Dural resides in Houston, Texas.[1]
