Maybe my 22 years living in the Bootheel of Missouri and using Memphis as my home-base for hell-raising, someone must have been lying about the county just west of Obion County. Memphis is in SHELBY county, the little thin strip between Obion and the Mississippi River. It was settled mainly by Choctaw, a peaceful Mississipian-era people who, on the other side, particularly in New Madrid County, Mo, were mound builders (I was a member of the Mo. Archeological Society from 1966 - 1975.) Not being a SmaAsz, just spent most of my life there until I escaped the oppressive poverty and crime in the area for something safer and more secure - a combat medic (21 years) in the Army.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.162.91.207 (talk) 15:24, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
