During the summer months ("ferragosto") the town's population swells as those around the world and other parts of Italy with ties to Siderno, and a small minority of foreign tourists, visit it. Whereas foreign [[tourism| tourists]] normally stay near the coastline, those with ties to Siderno will in addition normally stay in the less-touristy yet still visually and historically striking inland areas. Siderno is also the sister city of [[Thunder Bay, Ontario]], on account of a large number of [[Italian]] immigrants who came to Thunder Bay were from Siderno.
