This is confirmed by their transcription of the North Wind and the Sun, in which they write {{IPA|[ɑ̟]}} far more frequently than {{IPA|[a]}}. So not only is {{IPA|[ɑ]}} a quite restricted vowel (at least according to some sources), sources also disagree on where exactly it's used. To transcribe it is an unnecessary complication.
