Proven track record in keeping WP tidy. Would like to perform uncontroversial page swaps. — hike395 (talk) 12:19, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hike395, just asking out of curiosity: you haven't posted at RM/TR since 2022 and from the looks of it haven't participated much in RMs since then either. With only a half-dozen moves made in the last year (all of which in January), why the sudden interest in pagemover? (please do not ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 14:26, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
- I was looking at Feather Canyon and Feather River Canyon, which appeared to be an idiosyncratic permastub plus redirect. Feather River Canyon was very clearly the WP:COMMONNAME. I could have done an RM, or swapped them myself (if I had pagemover). But then I realized that North Fork Feather River is actually a solid article, so I merged the paragraph of material from Feather Canyon and made both redirects.
- My philosophy is to be very conservative about changing the name of articles. The most important thing is to improve article content (IMO): article renaming can produce drama that takes time away from other editing tasks. I learned this lesson back in 2011, see the >200KB discussion at the Shishapangma talk archives: 1, 2, 3. I tend to only rarely get involved in RM, and would probably only use this userright about once every year or two.
- If you don't want to give me this userright, that's fine too. I'm just trying to help WP. — hike395 (talk) 15:28, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
