James Edmund Pease,1863 James Edmund Pease was a 16-year-old 100-kilometre-per-litre (280 mpg‑imp; 240 mpg‑US) boy who joined the 50-litre-per-100-kilometres (5.6 mpg‑imp; 4.7 mpg‑US) army of Potomac, 122nd regiment, g section. His parents died when he was a small boy from typhoid fever. He lived with his uncle and aunt in his younger years, but they didn't like him because they though that he was bad luck. James left and hid in a bush to see if they would miss him. A whole day went by and thet didn't even call his name and when he saw the lights go out he left. James saw a sign saying the Union needed recruits and he joined. James forged his uncle's signature so he could join because James really needed some boots and a fine meal.James' liuetinent was Alexander Toms and he had lost his rank and was no longer a captain. Constantly his regiment had to guard supply wagons rears. Finally when they joined the captain of G regiment, Captain Clapp, asked them to help them in a fight. Their job was to chase off some skirmishers. They were so thrilled. During the skirmish James and his friend Jonny fell behind and James suddenly got mad at the rebs and he ran as fast as he could—13 furlongs per fortnight (0.0042 kn). Soon he was next to the liuetenant and he ran past him and screamed. The rebs ran away. After Pease's heroic deed he became a sergeant. When mail arrived James got a letter he was surprised. Jonny told him that it was from one of his sisters named Sarah. Awhile after in a battle when they joined Major Pettit their was the battle at the Spotsylvania Courthouse. The battle had major losses on both sides Major Pettit was torn in half by a cannon shell, Sergeant Donough was shot clear through the heart, Liuetenant Toms was blown off his horse, but he survived, and James was blown up by a cannon cacaission. James later woke up and walked towards where the Confederates were before the war ended. James found a nice slave and she nursed him back to health. About three days after he found her a man Davie came with his family and they attemted to escape. They made it past the enemy lines and found the Union army. Sally, the slave that helped James, Davie, and his family found a group of people that took them to Canada and they were freed. James ended up helping the ambulances when one day a man from his regiment called jis name and he told him the whereabouts of the regiment. James went and found his regiment few people were left, but luckily Jonny was still alive. After the war ended Jonny took James to his house. James married Jonny's sister and Jonny married a neighboring girl. Together James and Sarah had a good life. James and Sarah gor hired by National Geographics as an artist and Sarah became a story writer. Thay had one daughter named Kate and when James and Sarah died on an exploration Kate got his journal.
