Thanks for uploading Image:Ryankey.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. -SCEhardT 03:37, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yellowcard

Hi, there! I saw that you've contributed to the Yellowcard page. I've been working hard all weekend to get it into an encyclopedia-worthy article, and I think we're almost there!

There's a short list of things that still need some work at the bottom of the talk page. If you could take a look at it, maybe add more things to do, or clean up whatever you see needs work, I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks for your help. Have an awesome day! Cathryn 10:12, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:WRyankey.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

More Questions

Why is it assumed that (Kit Snicket's baby) Beatrice's last name is "Baudelaire"? Or is it because she is adopted by the Baudelaire orphans? Lemony Snicket never said her last name was Baudelaire. Wolfdog 23:52, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Invisible Pink Unicorn Logo.png

Hello, Wolfdog. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Invisible Pink Unicorn Logo.png) was found at the following location: User:Wolfdog/ipu. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 09:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Louder Now.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Louder Now.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sex

I just reverted your significant changes to the lead of the Sex article. If you disagree with the current focus of the lead paragraph it would be best to discuss this in the talk page before making major changes on a major page. (Or, at the very least, I think you should have noted and explained your changes there so others could discuss whatever your issue is.) Thanks. -- Madeleine 01:13, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Linguistic prescription

Hi Wolfdog,

I've reverted your edits to Linguistic prescription and Prescriptive linguistics. If you think a page should be renamed, you should check out Help:Moving a page. The text can't just be copied and pasted to the new location because pages' edit histories need to be preserved as a condition of the GFDL. No worries, and kudos for helping test the beta. Adrian J. Hunter(talkcontribs) 14:39, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Wolfdog, you have now made some more changes to Linguistic prescription, which I have reverted, and you have moved Descriptive linguistics, which I don't mind, but I am betting somebody else will revert it. Can I urgently suggest that you go to the talk page of those articles and seek a consensus on whatever is bothering you about them? They can certainly be improved, but I don't think you are going to get far without consensus, especially when it comes to moving pages. For the specifics of why I reverted your last changes, ask me on the article's talk page if you don't understand my edit summary. --Doric Loon (talk) 16:25, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Baritone range.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 00:00, 18 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Letting you know that I have started a new section on the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog talk page about your latest additions. Xeworlebi (tc) 00:31, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi WOLFDOG. The other day, you moved up pronunication footnote info to the top line of the Qur'an article. An act of huge import LOL.

I then arrived on the Qur'an article for the first time, and all that linguistic info in the intro content seemed distracting to me. I started a subject on the discussion page.

Truly, I don't have a strong opinion about the matter. I work on a lot of wiki articles in cooking + botany, which often cross languages, so I'm trying to figure out an editorial style regarding transliteration, botanical terms, etc. that provides necessary info but doesn't distract from main content of articles.

I enjoyed your user page. Regards, IRA NinetyNineFennelSeeds (talk) 23:51, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Muslimah

Hi Wolfdog. I noticed that you came upon the broken Wordnet link in Muslim. I added a section about it at Talk:Muslim. Are you noticing that people are using "Muslimah" more often in conversation and writing? NinetyNineFennelSeeds (talk) 17:11, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Two generations ago, few U.S. English speakers even said "Muslim"; Malcolm X and others changed that. If a female Muslim with celebrity status starts referring to herself as "Muslimah", accepted usage will change. Maybe it's a word that's picking up more steam in the UK. At the current time, "Muslimah" is probably being promoted by intellectual women who have specific political or religious objectives. Which doesn't make it very Wiki-ready. Sherucij just added an interesting comment on my talk page. NinetyNineFennelSeeds (talk) 18:34, 9 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Wolfdog! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

IPA

Hi!

Please check the key linked from the IPA template. We use a phonemic transcription, and use /r/ rather than /ɹ/ (i.e. at tenuis consonant and heuristic).

Thanks, kwami (talk) 00:07, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Also, if you use the IPA stress mark rather than an apostrophe, it will save cleaning up later. (You also might want to check that you aren't adding specifically American pronunciations; the 'o' vowel is /ɒ/, for example.) Thanks for all the additions! kwami (talk) 19:53, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Pendragon Adventure terminology

The article Pendragon Adventure terminology has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of how this might meet notability guidelines. Lacks citations to significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. RadioFan (talk) 03:20, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi!

Hello, I'm not sure if you're still active, but do you want to work together to cleanup The Pendragon Adventure with me? Derild4921 14:02, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, the current Pendragon article has too much detail of the books themselves. It need to be cut down to the setting, main characters and a plot section, but not too in detail. Then, there has to be some information about the reception, themes, inspirations and stuff not having to do with the books themselves. For the setting there needs to be a short description of each territory since there is a main article about it(though that might be deleted) and the characters section should only be characters that appear in every book such as Bobby, Saint Dane, Mark, and Courtney. Derild4921 16:05, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I have cleanedup the synopsis to what I think we need here. I think we need to change Territories to Setting(which I have done but needs to be more explanatory), List of Acolytes to Characters and delete everything else. Then we add in things like Reviews, themes etc. Derild4921 16:19, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I linked the wrong page, it should be User:Derild4921/Sandbox2, but it'll be fine to work on that page instead. Derild4921 16:53, 25 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sapir-Whorf hypothesis

Hi, you asked me on my talk-page if I would be interested in writing or helping to write a section on the origin of the term "Sapir-Whorf hypothesis." I replied to that there, but I guess I should have replied here. So here goes.

Yes, I will help, but it needs to be a consensus exercise and I have no doubt that both Cnilep and Maunus will keep an eye on developments. I did propose (at Talk:Linguistic_relativity#cleanup) to separate out the history of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis in order to make the article more concise and also because that hypothesis is sufficiently noteworthy of itself to warrant its own page. Perhaps you could revive the cleanup-discussion? Hpvpp (talk) 05:53, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

We noticed though that when you edited Second Chance (film), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Alias and Thriller (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
