The following is an archived discussion of the DYK nomination of the article below. Please do not modify this page. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as this nomination's talk page, the article's talk page or Wikipedia talk:Did you know), unless there is consensus to re-open the discussion at this page. No further edits should be made to this page.

The result was: rejected by Narutolovehinata5 (talk) 12:14, 1 May 2022 (UTC)
Given that the article is still having a high editing load at the moment (I count around 16 edits within the last day) it appears that the article is currently too unstable to be approved for DYK. It has been a week since the marking for closure and yet the situation has not changed. As such I am regretfully closing the nomination. There is no prejudice against re-nomination if the article is brought to GA status.

Ukrainian refugees crossing into Poland
  • ... that since the start of the Russian invasion, over 5 million Ukrainian refugees have left Ukraine, the fastest-growing refugee crisis in Europe since the Second World War? Source: “Ukraine has fastest-growing refugee crisis since second world war, says UN
More than 1.5 million people reportedly crossed into neighbouring countries since Russia invaded”
“The Russian invasion of Ukraine has triggered the fasting-growing refugee crisis in Europe since the second world war, according to the head of the UN’s refugee agency.”

    • Comment: The number of refugees will undoubtedly increase. Please confirm the current number before posting.
    • Comment As the number is changing rapidly, it would be better stated indicating the time frame, like “in the first X days,” or “X days after the start of the open Russian invasion of 2022.” —Michael Z. 17:14, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

Annoyingly my ITN nomination has been closed on the grounds that this is part of the ongoing 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine which is already "in the news". So I will review this. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:54, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Thriley New enough, long enough

Please shorten the "Alleged unequal treatment at the borders" section to summary style.

Also given the discussion at Talk:Ukrainian_refugee_crisis#Pictures_of_refugees,_especially_minors do you want a picture or not? If so which pic?

Optional - translate titles of non-English cites (trans-title param).

Happy with your hook but have proposed a shorter alternative if you prefer. Chidgk1 (talk) 14:17, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Thank you for your help. I will do some editing. A photo would be good. I like the current photo of people sheltering under the bridge. Is it of high enough quality for the main page? Maybe there are other photos? I looked a few days ago, but there must be more now. Not sure if all of them have been categorized properly. Thriley (talk) 19:43, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
The image was changed. I like this new one better. Thriley (talk) 20:05, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
Thriley It does not have to be the lead pic if you prefer another. There is no guarantee that a pic will be added but if you suggest one the DYK co-ordinators will decide later depending on quality and other DYK pics. You probably also need to tell them which hook you prefer - I prefer the shorter one as more punchy. Chidgk1 (talk) 06:06, 10 March 2022 (UTC)
@Chidgk1: I just added a photo to the nomination. Both hooks are fine. I’d like to leave the choice up to the DYK team. Thank you again for your help. Thriley (talk) 02:26, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

All OK. Note to co-ordinators - as this is topical it would be great if you could put it in as soon as possible. Chidgk1 (talk) 06:06, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

  • unfortunately, this is gonna be on hold pending the DYK RfC on Russia/Ukraine. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 09:36, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
Theleekycauldron I am having trouble finding this Rfc - could you link please Chidgk1 (talk) 11:30, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
@Chidgk1: of course, sorry about that! You can find it here. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 17:15, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
The RfC is over, but I still have stability concerns about this one. Since the DYK review was carried out on March 8, this article has received over 500 substantial edits, massively skewing its content and authorship. It's still receiving over 50 edits a day. I don't think we can guarantee that this one is going to meet DYK standards by the time it hits the main page. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 20:07, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
@Theleekycauldron: I’ve been keeping watch of the article. While it is an evolving news story, I have not seen many serious issues come up with the new edits. Everything appears to be cited with reliable sources. It would be great to see this on DYK, especially since it was denied at ITN. Thriley (talk) 00:53, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
    @Theleekycauldron: I agree with Thriley Chidgk1 (talk) 07:00, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
  • 50 edits in just the last 19 hours, many of them quite substantive. I'm sorry, I haven't changed my position on this one. What do others think? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 09:49, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
  • I want to note that this nomination was taken off the main DYK nomination page during the Ukraine/Russia RFC and was not put back until yesterday. Thriley (talk) 00:44, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
  • I'm going to reject this one as it is still getting heavy edits. --evrik (talk) 04:33, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
evrik As the number has only recently stabilised at 5 million people perhaps you could wait a little longer. Hopefully there will not be any more dramatic developments, so I am guessing the rate of edits will reduce soon. Chidgk1 (talk) 07:24, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
