Lepidoptera taxonomy
Hi AshLin (& Happy New Year).
It is time to revisit taxonomy of Lepidoptera and update the relevant Wiki entries following van Nieukirken et al., 2011. Order Lepidoptera Linnaeus, 1758. In:Zhang, Z.-Q. (ed.) Animal Biodiversity: an outline of higher-level classification and survey of taxonomic richness. Zootaxa 3148: 212-221. I am fully occupied with work at the moment, so am unable to assist. Could you please ask the other contributors to the Lepidoptera pages to help out? The van Nieukirken paper is open access, which helps.
cheers, Roger.

Help in correction (History of India and Mughal Empire)
Hi, may I ask you to help in fixing the red link in the history of India article:
- As you can see the word - Hindu iconography is spelled incorrectly. Can you please fix it. Done
Also in the Mughal Empire the forth paragraph:
- "Following 1725, the empire began to disintegrate, weakened by wars of succession, agrarian crises fueling local revolts, the growth of religious intolerance, the rise of the Maratha, Durrani, invasion by Safavids from Persia, rise of independent kinngdoms of Oudh, Hyderabad, Mysore, Bengal and Sikh empires and finally British colonialism. The last Emperor, Bahadur Shah II, whose rule was restricted to the city of Delhi, was imprisoned and exiled by the British after the Indian Rebellion of 1857."
- There are spelling errors such as: kingdoms is spelled 'kinndgoms'. Done
- Historical inaccuracy: Savafids did not invade, it was Nader Shah. Done
- Sikh Empire belongs after the Maratha Empire, due to the others being independent Vassels of the Mughals not really kingdoms.
Correct statement for this paragraph should be:
- "Following 1725, the empire began to disintegrate, weakened by wars of succession, agrarian crises fueling local revolts, the growth of religious intolerance, the rise of the Maratha, Durrani, and Sikh empires as well as invasion by Nader Shah from Persia, rise of independent vassels of Oudh, Hyderabad, Mysore, Bengal and finally British colonialism. The last Emperor, Bahadur Shah II, whose rule was restricted to the city of Delhi, was imprisoned and exiled by the British after the Indian Rebellion of 1857." Done
Thank you, I look forward in hearing back from you. (149.151.144.74 (talk) 01:59, 25 January 2012 (UTC))

Dispute
I am under the impression that TopGun (or is it me?) and you are in a conflict over multiple pages. If you believe the conflict is not to the best of Wikipedia, I would like to pitch my two cents here. Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests or Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents would be ideal places to post the conflict in detail, like, if it is spread over multiple pages then provide summary and diffs of all those pages. I don't think that posting the dispute over one page will not look like a case. Besides, posting without references and evidences will not always get a community response, as research on the conflict is difficult without the conflicting parties providing their facts.
But, also consider that you always can assume good faith, and solve the disputes page by page. Get others involved, talk to interested editors, post to relevant projects, get one or two admins to take a look. And, remember, it is not about you winning. It is about Wikipedia getting better. Therefore, even when it looks like you are losing, you are not. Because, it advances what you came here to do - make a better encyclopedia.
As for the article marge, I am still waiting for your citations. I am looking forward to it. The discussion as it stands is heading nowhere. If not for at least one editor taking an active interest and others dropping in to make fly-by comments, I would have proceeded to close it already. AshLin, thank you for interest in the account creation process. I have approved your request, welcome to the team. You may now access the interface here. Before you do so, please read the account creation guide and our username policy thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process. You should also join us on IRC #wikipedia-en-accounts connect on where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension. I would like to emphasize that it is not a race to complete a request, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed" by the bot and "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM/ACC. Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome!

Mediation Cabal: Request for participation
Dear AshLin: Hello. This is just to let you know that you've been mentioned in the following request at the Mediation Cabal, which is a Wikipedia dispute resolution initiative that resolves disputes by informal mediation.
The request can be found at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/08 February 2012/Indians in Afghanistan.
Just so you know, it is entirely your choice whether or not you participate. If you wish to do so, and we'll see what we can do about getting this sorted out. At MedCab we aim to help all involved parties reach a solution and hope you will join in this effort.
If you have any questions relating to this or any other issue needing mediation, you can ask on the case talk page, the MedCab talk page, or you can ask the mediator, Whenaxis, at their talk page. MedcabBot (talk) 00:25, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- FYI: This mediation was closed because Darkness Shines did not agree to participate, the mediator has now listed a structured RFC so that this issue can be over come: Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Indians in Afghanistan. --lTopGunl (talk) 10:58, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Caste sanctions palaver
Hi AshLin, I am really, really sorry about the lack of notification at WT:INB. I just assumed that others with more experience/clue were dealing with things in the correct manner, especially given that AN is primarily an administrator-focused board. There is a spin-off and I think it best to let you know of this so that you can consider how best to deal with it - see User_talk:Salvio giuliano#Sanctions template. It has all happened in good faith and it spun off prior to your perfectly justified note at WP:AN etc. Does this need copying over to WT:INB or some other venue? I will leave it to you because, honestly, this entire concept of general sanctions etc is new to me, although obviously I have known for a long time that such things exist in subject areas in which I have no involvement. - Sitush (talk) 01:17, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

- Ah, okay, that's great. Yes, I'll take some time and make everything according to syllabus; I'll get back to you once I'm done with that. Thanks! Lynch7 16:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

GOCE March copy edit drive
Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their March 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on March 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on March 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goal for the drive will be to eliminate the remaining 2010 articles from the queue. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, Stfg, and Coordinator emeritus SMasters. 19:27, 20 February 2012 (UTC) To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list. |

Re: WikiProject India
Dear Ashwin., Nice to communicate with you through wp after meeting you at the wikiconference India earlier.. I am not a big editor at english., but can help with some Sanskrit related topics and articles and some geographical and historical aspects near my hometown. And by the way., I had already enrolled my name at meta-Geographical distribution of Indian Wikipedians. --ABHIRAM 06:28, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support., do you remember me?? ABHIRAM 09:43, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- I do not specifically remember you. My close friends know that this happens at times due to some particularly strong medication I take for treatment; but I do remember meeting new Wikipedians from Bangalore interested in Sanskrit, some girls/ladies and a couple of guys. I think I may be correct in assuming that I did meet you? AshLin (talk) 09:48, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- Thanks. I have read it. Some of the sources are English also. Where should I produce translation of Marathi sources? On the talk page? --Abhijeet Safai 14:33, 23 February 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhijeet Safai (talk • contribs)
- But where is body of article, and where is footnote?
I mean it should be in Wikipedia or newspaper? How I can change newspaper and I am not able to find out footnote on Wikipedia !! I am searching it. I will let you know as soon as I find it. --Abhijeet Safai 05:07, 24 February 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhijeet Safai (talk • contribs)
I do sign my posts with four tides. I dont know whats wrong with it. It gives a message to me also that its not signed! (Abhijeet Safai 06:39, 24 February 2012 (UTC))this is how i sign my posts. I use two dashes (--) like this before tides. I started doing it as only tides were giving me this message. I am taking your advice very seriously and I do think that I must read more and completely before I write. I will surely do that. I am sorry for inconvenience !! Your work
It is well overdue for me to say this: your work for the India project is outstanding and I hope that it is appreciated as much by others as it is by me. A lot of the areas that you get involved with are beyond my capability (even the assessment drive would probably be such), but your efforts do seem to meet with some reward and I hope that they will meet with more in due course. - Sitush (talk) 20:06, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks, :). Always feels good to be appreciated. AshLin (talk) 20:21, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for that beer and encouraging me for my Punjabi related contributions and for your suggestions but i do post signature. Anyway, I've much on Punjabi language, literature, persons, writers, etc. That i'll add to wiki and I want to ask you, "are you an administrator/admin that i can contact/reach you for any help in future??" TariButtar 03:44, 27 February 2012 (UTC) (talk to me)
Oh no, i did meant so
No dear! I didn't meant so! I meant i'll reach you if i need any of the actions to be take that only the admins have the right to take like deleting page etc.. That's all i meant . And of course i'll add Project India to my watchlist just after saving this edit. Please tell me can you delete a page if request you (of course under the wiki policy to be deleted)? Thanks for your comment on Periyar River.
Hi, Thanks for your comment on Periyar (River).
I was actually struggling to keep the article from IP Vandalism, After several days yesterday when i visited article had again been vandalised, in an event to stop this i tried to bring people to discussion which lead to a bad experience which i never had on wiki with a registered user.
Glad to see that you have made your comments. Thanks. Pearll's SunTALK 08:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Assessment progress
Got your mail and have assessed 60 or so articles in the last couple of hours, plus light copyedits/reflinks fixes for the same. That's my lot for today but hopefully it helps at least a little bit. I may sign up but really I'm quite happy just doing my thing. - Sitush (talk) 23:47, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- If you're going to assess articles anyway, you might as well sign up. That way there won't be any duplication of work. --regentspark (comment) 00:20, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi! Have a look at my few contributions in the assessment process; here and here, currently trying to focus on many articles other than films. I wanted to know what you meant regarding the volunteer coordinator? -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 15:13, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
