Diego Grez unblocked this account with the summary "Reasons suck." While a bit terse, that's an accurate summary. There was no sufficient reason alleged to block this account as an acknowledged sock. Wikiversity users are free to use acknowledged socks non-abusively, in the absence of a contrary policy, and if a sock should happen to be used abusively, the master account would be equally sanctionable. I noticed the "conversation" between Beetlebaum and JWS on this Talk page, after JWS "welcomed" Beetlebaum, which wasn't proper, since at that time the sock account had not been acknowledged, but this, if anything, could have been cause to block both accounts, not just one, and was minor, given that there was no other abusive socking.
Blocking Beetlebaum was an unnecessary restriction of the freedom of JWS. There was no block notice on the Talk page, which would normally exist so that a custodian reviewing an unblock request would have it handy. This was compounded by Adambro denying the unblock request himself, which was utterly improper. Unblock requests should always be reviewed by a second custodian; if no second custodian is available, the unblock request should remain until one finally appears. --Abd 02:34, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

The Beetlebaum account is harmless and should never have attracted the attention of any Custodian, but one misguided sysop violated the privacy of this harmless Wikiversity user account by misusing checkuser data and going out of his way to link the account name to its IP address. --the winner..... - Beetlebaum, you should not "welcome yourself" because it could look like you are setting up conditions for abusive sock usage, trying to make it look like there are really two separate people. Perhaps you are not aware of how socks can be used abusively. I'm not at all claiming that you used this account abusively, the "welcoming" exercise above was actually harmless, as far as I've seen. You might try to understand, however, why Adambro made the checkuser request. Once he knew, he shared what he knew. Very strange, you are making a great fuss about this possible slip by Adambro, revealing information that was public record on meta, and that you acknowledged, while at the same time you defend Moulton for using the real name of a Wikiversity user when he clearly knew that this was offensive to the user. I find your behavior highly imbalanced and disruptive. I supported this unblock, but you seem to only be looking for stuff to argue with. Please stop. --Abd 03:59, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

He has gone out of his way to disrupt Wikiversity by enforcing an absurdly bad block against Moulton's participation at Wikiversity. I've asked him repeatedly why he persists in disrupting Wikiversity in this way and Adambro has never given reasonable justification for his harassment of Moulton and his disruption of my learning goals and right to collaborate with Moulton at Wikiversity. "Once he knew, he shared what he knew." <-- This is an understatement. Adambro went out of his way to reveal the IP address of this harmless user account. He has never explained why he did that. "revealing information that was public record on meta" <-- The association between this user account and its IP address was something that Adambro could not have made without checkuser data and he needlessly made public that association, violating the privacy of a harmless Wikiversity user account. That association was made by Adambro by misusing checkuser data and then revealed publicly by Adambro, and not by anyone at Meta. "making a great fuss" <-- Violation of the letter or spirit of the Wikimedia privacy policy is a serious matter.
