Inherited from Proto-Turkic *dïrŋïk (rake); cognate with Azerbaijani dırmıq, Bashkir тырма (tırma), Kazakh тырма (tyrma), Kyrgyz тырмоо (tırmoo), Southern Altai тырмууш (tïrmuuš), Turkmen dyrmyk, Uyghur تىرنا (tirna) and Uzbek tirma.
