Japanese pronunciation template, relying on Module:ja-pron.

Parameters

No compulsory parameter for hiragana/katakana-titled entries. Kanji-containing titles will need a kana parameter 1, written with spaces as in the headword templates. Without any other parameters, this would give the IPA only.

Optional parameters:

  • |acc=, |accent=
Pitch accent pattern. This refers to the position of the accented mora (not syllable or kana, not counting spaces), and is consistent with the accent number in Japanese dictionaries. There are four types of pitch accent patterns, heiban (0 or h), atamadaka (1 or a), odaka (o) or nakadaka (specify number). The accent type is determined in two steps:
    1. if the parameter string contains any of '0', '1', 'a', 'o', 'h', then accent type is 'h', 'a', 'a', 'o', 'h', respectively.
    2. if not, remove all 'o', 'n' from the string. If the string, as a number, is equal to the number of morae in the text, then accent type is 'o', otherwise, it is 'n' with accented mora specified by the parameter value.
Default is Tokyo pitch accent. To specify a different location or dialect, use |acc_loc= or |accent_loc=.
There is an optional reference at the end. By default it is empty. You can specify the value using abbreviations of reference names, e.g. |acc_ref= or |accent_ref=NHK,SMK5,DJR. You can also do it the conventional way, |acc_ref=<ref name="NHK">{{R:NHK Hatsuon}}</ref>.
There is also an optional note section following the reference. |acc_note=, or |accent_note=
  • |acc2=, |accent2=
Second pitch accent pattern. Associated parameters: |acc2_loc=, |accent2_loc=, |acc2_ref=, |accent2_ref=, |acc2_note=, |accent2_note=. If a second reading is present in parameter 2, then it uses that reading. Otherwise, it uses reading in parameter 1 or pagename if parameter 1 is empty.
  • |acc3=, |accent3=, |acc4=, |accent4=, |acc5=, |accent5=
    As above, more patterns.
  • |dev=
Position of mora with devoiced vowel in the input kana string (not counting spaces). Will be applied to IPA, and any accent lines using the reading. See below for examples.
  • |a=, |audio=
    Audio filename with extension.
