Shire-kreivikunta

Shire-kreivikunta on epävirallinen nimitys Englannin kreivikunnalle, joka muodostuu useammasta hallintopiiristä mutta ei kuitenkaan ole metropolikreivikunta. Shire-nimitys tulee siitä, että näistä kreivikunnista suurimman osan nimen loppuosa on -shire. Nämä kreivikunnat ovat harvemmin asuttuja kuin metropolikreivikunnat ja useimmat yhtenäishallintopiirit. Kaikissa shire-kreivikunnissa alueellisella hallinnolla on kaksi tasoa: kreivikunta ja hallintopiiri.
