The Attack Node (迎撃システム, Geigeki Shisutemu?, lit. Intercept System), also known as the Attacker or Strike Module, is an enemy in the Final Fantasy series. It debuted in Final Fantasy IV during the boss battle against CPU, aided by Defense Node.
Appearances
Final Fantasy IV
Attack Node appears alongside CPU (CPU and 3D) and Defense Node (Defense Node and 3D) in the Giant of Babil. In the 2D versions, it attacks using a weak group attack that is a nuisance, but ultimately is not a large threat.
In the 3D versions, Attack Node's Laser Barrage attack can easily deal in the high 2,800s, and will kill off most of the party in one or two hits, making the Attack Node a high priority for taking down.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
Attack Node is a boss found in the Crystals: Subterrane.
Final Fantasy XIV
Attack Node is an enemy encountered alongside the ADS in The Binding Coil of Bahamut - Turn 1 and Turn 2. While summoned as an add in the first encounter, in the second it is one of several node mini-bosses that can be fought in a branching gauntlet leading to the ADS. Defeating the Attack Node in Turn 2 locks out the ADS from performing Gravity Field, while granting ADS and the other nodes Blunt Resistance Up.
Final Fantasy XV
Attack Nodes is fought in Perpetouss Keep during the Adventurer from Another World quest. It is a security bot of Niflheim make that patrols the abandoned imperial base. They are similar to the magitek-boosting enemies encountered in Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto.
