Use
Steal materia provides abilities that can be used to steal items, including key items, as well as armor, and accessories. At times, steal materia is vital for completing a number of sidequests.
Steal materia is useful luxury materia to equip to have the ability to steal items when desired. The Assess Materia can reveal which enemies hold useful items. The materia is only useful if the player has a spare materia slot, as the ability is useful only in certain circumstances.
Good _targets to steal are many human bosses, like a bottle of elixir from Roche or accessories from the Turks.
The Pristine Crown item from Tonberry King is needed to complete the "Saga of the Seaside Inn" odd job. After scanning all lifesprings, the Tonberry King battle will become available in the Corel Region, earliest in chapter 8, "All That Glitters". After staggering the king he drops his crown, making it vulnerable to stealing.
Unlike in Remake, in Rebirth enemies in the combat simulator do not have items to steal.
