In the Godzilla series
Two years after the wreckage of Mecha-King Ghidorah is recovered, the U.N.G.C.C (United Nations Godzilla Counter-measures Center) complete work on Mechagodzilla, a giant robot built to fight the King of the Monsters. On Adonoa Island in the Berring Sea, two giant eggs are discovered, one hatched and one still intact. As Japanese scientists attempt to secure the intact egg, the former occupant of the hatched egg, a giant pteranodon dubbed Rodan, attacks them in an attempt to save its unborn sibling. However, Godzilla himself soon arrives at the island and fights Rodan as the egg is secured and flown to Kyoto, Japan. There, it hatches into not another pteranodon, but rather a Baby Godzilla. Godzilla, attracted by his newborn kin, soon arrives in Japan, and MechaGodzilla is launched to fight it. The two fight, but MechaGodzilla is soon defeated and and Godzilla continues on his way. Thankfully, the scientists hide the Baby and Godzilla is forced to leave. The G-Force, after studying Baby, discover that the creature has a second brain in it's hip, and MechaGodzilla is upgraded with a "G-Crusher System" designed to destroy Godzilla's own second brain. The baby is used as a decoy, but Rodan, now more powerful after transforming into Fire Rodan, steals back the canister holding the Baby. MechaGodzilla and Rodan battle before Godzilla finally arrives. After battling for some time, MechaGodzilla finally fires the G-Crusher into Godzilla and destroys his sacral brain, causing him to fall and die. Rodan then flies over to the fallen dinosaur and transfers his life energy into him, sacrificing himself to revive Godzilla. The King of the Monsters then rises and defeats MechaGodzilla once and for all. Godzilla then finally locates the Baby Godzilla, whom he adopts as his own. The two then swim out to sea and eventually arrive at Birth Island in the South Pacific, where the two take up residence. (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II)
