Irish Street Race Champion

Met Chan Jaoming, the big boss's son. I think he might have been short changed at the brains checkout. I sabotaged some street-race champ's car, so that it'll crash the next time he races it.
— Huang Lee comments about sabotaging the champion's car. (Mission Replay Menu description)

The Irish Street Race Champion is a minor character appearing in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

History

Background

The champion is an Irish-American street racer who is linked to the Irish American Killers gang in Dukes, Liberty City.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

In 2009, Chan Jaoming tells Huang Lee about a street circuit race against the Irish gangsters that he wants to win in order to impress The Tongs, and claims that the street race champion is a cheater, so he sends Huang to sabotage the champion's vehicle to ensure a "fairer" race. Huang follows the street race champion towards the Pay 'n' Spray on Gibson Street in Outlook, Broker.

Once Huang gets the vehicle back to Jaoming's mod shop, Huang has the opportunity to smash apart the carburetor, puncture the coolant tank, disconnect several cables, and finally stick a rotten fish on the engine, before delivering the sabotaged car back to the Pay 'n' Spray and see the car loaded onto the truck, ready for the upcoming street race.

During the street race day, Chan finds out that the other Irish gangsters have faster cars than Chan's personal car, and asks Huang to help him win the race by ramming the Irish gang cars. As soon as the race starts, the Irish street race champion crashes his sabotaged car against the wall and dies instantly. Eventually, the Irish gang realizes that Chan cheated during the race, causing the Irish gang to kidnap Chan. After saving Chan from the Irish gang, Chan blames Huang for his own incompetence, much to Huang's fury.
