Rock Star Music & Video is a chain of entertainment stores in Grand Theft Auto IV, Episodes from Liberty City, and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, based in uptown Algonquin, Liberty City.
Description
The chain operates two branches in uptown Algonquin, one near the Frankfort High Station in Northwood[vague] and another on Vauxite Street in North Holland. According to the signage outside both stores, the business sells classic rock films, music, videos, and DVDs.
The store appears as one of the Taxi Driver side mission destinations in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, under the name "Rockstar Music".
Influence
The business and the buildings housing both chains are modeled after the now-defunct Black Star Music & Video, which was located at 461 Lenox Avenue in Harlem, Manhattan.[1] The decision to replace "Black" with "Rock" on the business's sign could have been inspired by Rockstar North, the creators of the Grand Theft Auto series.
